Is what we’re going on. So don’t take it personally if you email us and it takes weeks to get a response. Multi-week backpacking trips are truly the lifeblood of this band - something about the combination of cool mountain air and doing most of your drinking through a warm plastic nipple really gets the hits flowing.

In the meantime, may we recommend a little something from our archives.

Not 100% sure what happened, but a couple of weeks ago the company that ran our old message board network got “upgraded” to another network.

Weirdly enough, the next day people suddenly stopped posting in our forums.

We assumed the world just ran out of things to talk about, or that there was maybe a silent protest going on against this “Yuku”, but it turns out a switch had gotten flipped in the process and we forgot to unflip it. (Specifically, the switch labeled “Let people post on your message board: Yes or No?”)

So: we unflipped the switch, and now everything’s better. I guess the moral of this story is to start taking people a bit more seriously when they say things like, “Your message board is broken and it isn’t letting me post.”

These are the gap-toothed years, when the ascap tooth fairy leaves quarterly statements under our pillows, rewards for the little bits of “anodyne” and “spaghetti streetwalker” that play largely unnoticed in the living rooms of Swedes and Italians and Mexicans.

What I mean to say is that we’re 7 years old, that this is the time that you pat us on the head and ask, “So Speechwriters LLC, what do you want to be when you grow up?” Do we want to be firemen? Veterinarians? Corporate financiers or chief technology officers?

When we grow up we will be rockstars. Here’s our 1st grade talent show:

Well, the dust has finally settled from Election 2006. Chellam and I parted with a handshake and a gritty embrace earlier today, at Dulles. He’s currently in the air somewhere between here and California, and I’m about to get on a plane bound for PDX.

One of us won big last Tuesday:

quit calling me macaca

One of us didn’t:

oh, the human-on-manity!

This is actually fairly typical for Chellam and I, and it’s why I traditionally seek out the candidate I believe in the least, then spend the entire cycle campaigning tirelessly on their behalf. In this case, I chloroformed young Roderick Santorum and assumed his identity just before the first returns came in.

Anyways. How are you guys? More importantly, what the fuck is going on with the LLC? And where’s that new song we promised you, like, ten days ago?

To be totally honest, I’ve had it sitting on my desktop since Halloween. (The song, not the band.) I’m going to master it when I get home. (Again, the song. Not the band.) It’s an outtake from Dave Lowensohn Dates Your Daughter, and I’ve actually kind of been kicking myself for not putting it on the CD. It’s a fine song, but that’s where it’s at.

Sorry to keep you all hanging.

Cheers,
Dave

Happy Tuesday, everyone.

  • If you’re over 18 and live in America: VOTE! (Please.)
  • If you’re not: Come back in a couple of days.

We’ll have a new song for you.

Which registered voters will also be able to download.

Because everyone’s welcome here, and we aim to please.

We’re just, you know, really into politics right now.

Being Speechwriters and all.

Cheers,
Dave
