It’s been a weird couple of weeks out here in Pennsylvania, and I’d love to discuss them at length, but I’m suddenly very, very tired, and I think we’re all driving to the airport in fifteen minutes, so I’ll save that for later.

In the meantime, more interview fun with Bud and the Electric Hum can be found here, and a couple of new shows have been posted here.

Thanks also to everyone who’s been buying my EP at Awarestore – I didn’t know people bought things anymore, what with the economy and all, and I’m right flattered.

hello.

i’ve been in allentown for two plus weeks and it’s not at all like billy joel said it was. there are a lot of diners here (complete with the claw-grabby-stuffed-animal thing. i almost won an orange fish). and there was snow a few days ago. and an amazing architectural structure called the toff mahal.

anyway, there’s also a great basement here, the basement of the Richman family, where Dave and their son Adam and I have been making sweet sweet music for twelve hours a day. it’s been wonderful.

i miss the sun.

i’ll see the west coast soon.

Harry Fries

You wouldn’t think it’d be such a chore to keep one of these things up to date, especially when the date-up-to-thing-keeper is as self-absorbed and power mad as I usually am this time of year, but, well, you’d be wrong. It’s hard. Internet doesn’t exactly grow on trees ’round these parts, although the great irony here is that Misha and I have spent the better part of this past week sprawled out on neighboring couches, reading shitty entertainment magazines and playing “Push Push” on our cell phones when we could have been writing The Great American Blog.

But these are the choices we make, and in the end they enrich us all. Chellam’s on spring break, I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from the road, and we’re holed up in one of our favorite East Coast haunts for some quality band time. Had dinner with the irrepressible Adam Richman, whose new album just got back from the plant this afternoon and is phenomenal. We all had chicken.

Beyond that, it’s snowing a lot and we’re all running out of fresh clothes. Wish you were here.

Love,

Dave

Alabagnetism

It was a week without equal, way down yonder in the deepest heart of Dixie, and as good as it is to be back in New York, I already miss my southside crew something fierce. Huge thanks to everyone who drove, housed, fed, and otherwise entertained my carpetbagging ass from Georgia to Florida to Sweet Home Alabama and back again – you really turned this seven day layover into one of the best little roadtrips ever, and you have my word that Misha and I will be coming back just as soon as we possibly can.

Tourwise, the shows have been going eerily well, especially considering how hastily this whole thing got thrown together. My deepest apologies to the ATLiens and anyone else our pretzel-based routing may have missed; you’re probably wondering if there was a gas leak or something in the room where we did our scheduling, and all I can really say at this point is that Something Came Up Rather Suddenly And We Had To Make Some Sacrifices. The upswing, of course, is that (for us) the next two and a half weeks may just be the most important two and a half weeks ever, in ways that we can only refer to vaguely for now. But we’re confident that, when all is said and done, you’ll look back on The Tour That Was Only Kind Of, Like, Half Of A Tour and agree with our flash management squad that it was all totally, totally worth it.

Anyways, Bud from Radio Free Alamosa was kind enough to record the interview we did a couple of weeks ago, so we’ve put the first part of that up here for anyone who’s interested.

War Eagle,

Dave

dave drunk-dialed me last night from gainesville.. the connection was really bad so i couldn’t really hear what he said, but i think it was something about a country estate.. i don’t know what that means, but i’m sure that it’s a lot more fun than this electoral politics reading.
